SMP/E is a tool designed to manage your z/OS operating environment. It is capable of ensuring the proper installation of products and maintenance in a complex environment.

Content Description

This course is designed to provide the SMP/E skills needed in the installation and maintenance of optional features and maintenance in the z/OS operating environment. Students are taught to define the SMP/E database and invoke SMP/E to add, modify, or replace system elements. 

Objectives

•Describe the contents of target and distribution libraries •List the five main element types recognized by SMP/E •Explain the process of creating a load module

•List the three types of zones in a consolidated software inventory •Describe the use of the four types of SYSMODs •Describe the process of SYSMOD installation using the RECEIVE, APPLY, and ACCEPT commands 

•Describe the effect of RESTORE processing on target libraries •Identify the source of SYSMODs •List the three phases of product installation

 •Describe the CustomPac options for installing your system
